PROMPT 1 A myth is mainly about nature of humanity, and by that we learn what different cultures think and feel about the way things come to be. Truths in myths are based on a certain person’s beliefs. In my opinion, truth in mythology is somewhat shaky, so I like to take it all in from different perspectives. The truth can come in many forms, whether its faith, a felling you get, or trust.
Prompt 2
In Lord of the Flies I found truth in our discussions about fear. Fear can be really anything that someone is afraid of, and in this story fear is about things unknown. Many people are afraid of the unknown and the truth of this is seen throughout the book and in everyday life. Like, they were afraid of the beast, because they didn’t know what it was, and I am afraid of change, because I don’t know what it will bring.
Prompt 3
In To Kill A Mockingbird the “truths” that are found in our world today, are about racism and growing up. Racism is commonly seen as the whites against the blacks. Kids used to grow up thinking that people of different color were to be treated as if they were beneath them. In our history we have had the same issues and controversies as in To Kill A Mockingbird.
Prompt 4
Dickens uses “expectations” in many ways, such as the expectation to make something of ones self, to love someone higher than your status, and to get money. We have the tendency to expect others to think a certain way about us and act a certain way towards us, based on how high our status is and how much money we have.
Prompt 5 I think the most important theme of, Of Mice and Men, is dreams. In the novel we follow George and Lennie on a small journey to try and reach their dream. Their dream consisted of living on their own piece of land, with their own farm hands, sheep, chickens, and rabbits. The “truth” of that dream though is that sometimes dreams don’t go they way we want but happen in different ways.
